A Spiritual Formation Collaborative

OpenAir is a team of individuals with diverse backgrounds, skills, and experiences. We are pastors and spiritual directors, missionaries and coaches. We have experienced the freedom that comes from a deeply rooted life in God, and we are committed to helping you as a Christian leader live into that same freedom. We believe that this is fundamentally a communal endeavor — that we are always more together than we are on our own. So we work collaboratively, with each other and with you, as we listen for and respond to God’s presence and movement on your journey.

OpenAir is called to accompany ministry leaders from diverse backgrounds, both culturally and denominationally. We serve people all over the world and right in our own backyards. Currently we offer our services in English, Spanish, and German.

To me, there’s little that’s better than watching someone exhale, drop their shoulders, and settle just a bit deeper into God’s love for them. It might be a small moment — but in those small moments, God can change so much. I am ordained as a priest in the Anglican Church in North America, hold an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and trained as a spiritual director with Selah. I love dark chocolate, British murder mysteries, and being an aunt to the world’s best nieces and nephew.

One of the greatest honors of my life has been to walk with people into dark places and witness with them that the light of Christ was there, loving them to fullness, all along. I received my M.A. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care and was certified as a Spiritual Director through the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot Seminary in 2018. I am also currently working on my PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy through Eastern University. Born and raised in California, I currently—astoundingly—find myself, along with my beloved husband and son, in Rome, Georgia. While the ocean will always hold my heart, the lush green of this land is nourishing my soul as I learn to say “y’all” and “bless it” as I journey with those who long for the love of God. I love hiking the many trails here and exploring as much as possible (particularly as much food as possible) with my two guys.

In my own life I have felt the weight of what it is like to try to do everything for Jesus rather than simply experience being with Him. I love helping people learn to make that shift- to experience Jesus’ love for themselves-and see where that takes them. I trained as a Spiritual Director in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with Sustainable Faith. I served as a missionary in Germany for over 13 years and have a B.A. in International Ministries. I enjoy reading science fiction novels, walking among trees, and spending time with my husband David and two children.

I get excited when I witness people I have been walking with experience more and more freedom in who they are in Jesus. Getting to accompany others who want to grow, find healing and experience more of God’s love makes me come alive. I have had the pleasure of being part of planting a church in my own country of Mexico. I am also a certified coach who accompanies Christian leaders in their walk with Jesus. Open Air’s priority of helping leaders stay healthy, vital and engaged with Jesus makes this a great fit for me. I love to make macrame art, drive down the Baja coast with loud music, hang out with my husband Shaun and cook Mexican food for my family and guests. While I live in San Diego, I constantly cross the border into Mexico to see my family, and spend time in my own culture.

One of the greatest joys of my life is found in creating a warm, welcoming space for others to encounter the love of God. Whether that’s in spiritual direction, in my home or in everyday conversation, I look forward to extending God's invitation to each person I meet. I served as a missionary and pastor in Germany for over a decade. I also hold an MA in Theology from Fuller Seminary and am currently training as a Spiritual Director with Soul Formation. I love going on long runs, biking, playing games with my kids, and listening to music with my wife, Melissa.

It took me a while to learn that my capacity to love well seems to be in direct correlation with my ability to let myself be loved first. We love, after all, because God first loved us. Open Air gives me a place to intentionally practice being loved by God in community. I can then offer leaders these same healing, restorative and transformational practices. I lived for over 20 years in Mexico, where I met my wife Maria, raised a family, and learned a lot more about letting God love me. We now live in San Diego and cross into Mexico frequently. I am part of a small, loving faith community that continues to inspire me to love my neighbors as God does. I am also part of Borderlands, a small team that walks with people working with migrants in Tijuana, Mexico, helping them discover their dignity as God’s image-bearers. Outside of eating Maria's amazing cooking with my three kids, I enjoy riding my motorcycle down winding forest-lined roads.
